You could write a book about Silver Plume. Many have in fact, with varying degrees of accuracy. We are a vibrant community of around 205 souls per the 2020 census (population figure may include dogs, drop-ins, and ground squirrels). But for purposes of this fundraising effort it seems most appropriate to focus on our big heart for historic preservation at large, and in particular, preservation of our beloved town, the community it shelters, and its' environs.
The photos below are town buildings and other features that have been protected and restored by the contributions of the townsfolk and grants from several agencies. most notably Colorado State Historical Fund. These citizen contributions take many forms: volunteer labor, fundraising events like the annual Melodrama, the 4th of July Ice Cream Social, House Tours, Museum proceeds and direct contributions to our historic preservation non-profit, People for Silver Plume, which is staffed by local residents.
